BlackBerry And Foxconn Partnership For 3G BB10
BlackBerry annouced its partnership with Foxconn to produce 3G devices based on BlackBerry 10 to the worlds. CEO John Chen revealed the details about the partnership on the company’s earnings. The first BlackBerry will come in March or April 2014 and its price will be affordable for the middle class. This partnership should help BlackBerry lower its exposure to financial risk. BlackBerry plans to lower its production costs.
CEO Chen explained that the key ingredient here will be price. The new devices will be manufactured in Mexico and Indonesia. BlackBerry will earn revenue from the sale of the devices like Foxconn. Chen added, with this partnership, Foxconn will be working on hardware and we will focus on designing. As for financial details, Chen noted BlackBerry will shoulder the cost of manufacturing by paying Foxconn. And both of the companies will reap the revenue from the sale of devices.
